Bodywork Training Courses
The Centre for Transformational Bodywork
Where your body is, your life is.
Transformational Bodywork is a sequence of 12 sessions of deep tissue strokes to the body to release fascia and holding patterns. This is an evolutionary approach to working with the body to achieve personal transformation. The transpersonal nature of this work can encompass intra-uterine experience, birth trauma, past life and ancestral memory.
Emotional pain, injuries and unconscious holding patterns can crystallise in the body as muscular armouring, body pains and inhibited breathing. Deep tissue and subtle bodywork can release these holdings, enabling a return to balance, flow and harmony. Wilhelm Reich (a student of Sigmund Freud) first unveiled the idea of “muscular armouring” in the body back in the 1930’s. He is recognised as the founder of the bodymind psychotherapy tradition.
Transformational Bodywork has evolved from powerful modalities that include the work of Ida Rolf (Rolfing) and Jack Painter (Postural Integration). The work further evolved in the hands of Deva Daricha in Australia. Suzanne Zankin trained with Daricha and is now the carrier of this profound and unique modality.
Learn how to release unconscious emotions and pain from the body with this deep dive training in the art and practice of Transformational Bodywork.

The Training
Module 1: 14-21 March 2026
Sessions 1-3
Opening the body and releasing the superficial armour. The first three sessions lay the foundations of the majority of the strokes and techniques used in this work. This is a structured, systematic approach to learning deep tissue bodywork. This 8 day training includes explorations in physical and energetic anatomy, body analysis and the psycho-emotional stories that the body remembers.
Students will learn how to work on and around the table, attend to client comfort, apply strokes with appropriate pressure and facilitate a session. You will learn professional conduct and practitioner skills in the very first module. Students must reach a level of confidence and competency before advancing to Module 2. You will receive ongoing supervision and support between modules at supervised practice clinics.
Non residential in Canberra, Australia
Cost: $1950 (includes tuition, teaching materials and lunch each day)
Module 2: proposed September 2026
Sessions 4-7
Releasing holdings in the pelvis, lower back, belly and legs
The lower body is the foundation of the whole. These sessions enable gradual recovery of our natural ease of movement, flexibility and grace. In these first two modules students learn elements of body reading and analysis, perceiving alignment issues, body splits and differential ageing. At the conclusion of this module, students as “practitioners-in-training”, are able to share all seven sessions with clients.

Module 3: proposed March 2027
Sessions 8-12
Sessions 8 and 9 are free-form work using the strokes learned in the first seven sessions with focused attention on individual needs.
The process of Zen bodywork
This module is about learning to be present without intention and following the flow of energy in the body. You will learn specific approaches for working with the neck, head, legs, and pelvis.
The Zen work deals with the release of the biological core, such as tensions held within the digestive tract.
This final module addresses professional ethics, principles of practice and a deepening into an understanding of healing and consciousness. Students are also introduced to the Reichian Character Structure (the work of Wilhelm Reich).
